Two suspects, identified as Oupa Simon Mohape(33) and Siyabonga Eric Sine(34), were arrested after they were reportedly found in possession of dagga worth more R4,7 million during a routine police patrol near Oshoek Port of Entry on Monday 22 April.

The suspects were reportedly spotted and stopped near the Red-hill offramp while travelling in a Toyota Hilux which was branded with a certain courier company logo.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said a thorough search by the police uncovered large wrapped packages, loaded with 1,133kg of dagga at the back of the bakkie.

“ The two suspects were apprehended and charged for dealing in dagga. The suspects appeared in Elukwatini Magistrate’s Court on 22 April 2024 and the case was postponed to 29 April 2024 for a formal bail application,” said Mdhluli.

Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt-General Semakaleng Manamela, commended the vigilance displayed by the border police in dealing with cross-border crime.
