The first series of build-up activities towards the annual World Consumer Rights Day celebrations took place at KwaMhlanga, led by Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDET) in partnership with the National Consumer Commission, the Competition Commission and other regulatory stakeholders, on Monday 10 March 2025.

Mpumalanga province will host this year’s celebrations of the annual World Consumer Rights Day on 14 March 2025 at the University of Mpumalanga, in Mbombela.

According to DEDT, the theme for this year is; “ Empowering Consumers, Balancing Rights with Ethical Business Practices”.
“ The main aim of World Consumer Rights Day(WCRD) celebrations is to raise awareness about consumer rights and to promote fair practices in the marketplace. The build-up activities are incorporated with the compliance, enforcement and consumer education workshops all around the province,” said DEDET.
