Sifiso Joshua Mashika found guilty of theft

The Emalahleni District Magistrate Court has convicted Sifiso Joshua Mashika(42) for theft of bank cards. The verdict was handed down on Thursday 8 February.
Mashika was reportedly arrested by the Middleburg-based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for theft that occurred at Klipfontein FNB branch.
Spokesperson for Mpumalanga Hawks, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, said information was received that Mashika reportedly stole a bank card, in June 2018, from a complainant under the false pretence of providing assistance.
Sekgotodi said Mashika was subsequently arrested after he was searched and found in possession of the stolen bank card.
“ The matter was referred to the Hawks for further investigation. The investigation was finalised and the accused was sentenced on Thursday 8 February 2024.
“ The accused was sentenced to a fine of R8000 or 2 years imprisonment of which R6000 or 1 year is suspended for 5 years on condition that the accused is not convicted of theft during the period of suspension. The accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm,” said Sekgotodi.
