In a bid to bolster law and order on Mpumalanga roads, the Mpumalanga DCSSL(Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison) has welcomed 105 newly-trained traffic officers who graduated after a 12-month Basic Traffic Officer’s Diploma from the Mpumalanga Traffic Training College in Mkhuhlu, under the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.

The 6th Pass Out Parade was held on Thursday 18 December 2025 following a program that featured both theoretical and practical training.
According to DCSSL provincial spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, the newly-appointed officers will contribute towards the reduction of road crashes and fatalities. The new appointees will reportedly resume their duties in different Cost Centres in the province from January 2026.
“ Between 2017 and 2025, about 817 traffic‑law enforcement officers for the Department, other provinces, municipalities and other institutions were trained at the college. MTTC is not only a symbol of the government’s unwavering efforts to end road crashes by producing traffic‑law‑enforcement officers, but it also contributes positively to the creation of much‑needed jobs for young people,” said Mmusi.

The event which was attended by numerous dignitaries including Mpumalanga DCSSL MEC, Jackie Macie, MEC for DPWRT(Department of Public Works Roads and Transport), Thulasizwe Thomo, who joined Macie in handing out certificates to the graduates.
Other guests who attended the ceremony included the President of Contralesa, Kgoshi Lameck Mokoena, Executive Mayor for Ehlanzeni District, Terror Shabangu, Executive Mayor for Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, Matlanatso Lydia Moroane, the Acting Provincial Commissioner for SAPS(South African Police Service), Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, Buscor CEO, Dr Norah Fakude, Head of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Ms Gloria Mazibuko, Councillors and MMC from both Ehlanzeni District and Bushbuckridge Local municipalities and stakeholders from various government and private institutions.
