TRAC(Trans African Concessions) is reminding road users of several major upgrade and rehabilitation projects currently underway along the N4 Toll Route, as South Africans prepare for the festive season.
According to TRAC, these projects aim to keep the corridor safe, efficient, and well-maintained.
These initiatives form part of TRAC’s ongoing commitment to keeping the corridor safe, efficient,
and well-maintained, demonstrating TRAC’s ongoing dedication to providing safer, smoother, and more reliable travel for all road users.
Overview of projects and their progress to date:
Several major projects are currently in progress, including:
– Rehabilitation of the N4 from Solomon Mahlangu Drive to Bronkhorspruit (expected completion: September 2027)
Progress of completion: 6%
– Rehabilitation of the N4 from Van Dijksdrift Interchange to Wonderfontein (expected completion: March 2027)
Progress of completion: 8%
– Upgrading and rehabilitation of Schoemanskloof (expected completion: October 2027)

Progress of completion: 29%
– Upgrading and rehabilitation of Crocodile Gorge (expected completion: February 2028)
Progress of completion: 23%
– Rehabilitation of the N4 from Hectorspruit to Lebombo Border post (expected completion: May 2027)
Progress of completion: 15%
– Rehabilitation and construction of a new passing lane on the EN4 from Ressano Garcia Border Post to Moamba Interchange (expected completion: December 2027)
Progress of completion: 20%
– Mill and replace of N4 MDC section 17 from Moamba I/C to Tchumene Interchange (expected completion: July 2026)
Progress of completion: 10%
Festive Season Construction Holiday
TRAC says construction will be halted from Friday, 12 December 2025, to Wednesday, January 7 2026, for the annual construction industry holiday.
However, road users are reminded that all sites will still be deemed active, and traffic control measures will remain in place.
