A case of culpable homicide is being investigated following the tragic death of traffic law enforcement officer, Jabulane Collen Ndlovu, who was reportedly killed in the line of duty on Friday morning 24 January 2025.
Ndlovu, 46, was allegedly struck by a mini-bus taxi on the N2 between Piet Retief and Ermelo while attempting to stop the vehicle during a speed law enforcement operation.
According to Mpumalanga DCSSL spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, the traffic officer succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a nearby hospital in Piet Retief.

Mpumalanga DCSSL MEC, Jackie Macie, extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.
“ While pursuing errant drivers, we want our traffic officers to be safe. They must be vigilant and also protect and cover each other when on the road. Motorists, on the other hand, must comply with the directives of law enforcers,” Macie lamented.
The MEC has, however, urged law enforcement officers to remain undeterred in their attempts to make Mpumalanga roads safer.
He furthermore stated that traffic law enforcers should remain true to their calling and not be discouraged by such tragedies.
