The brutal killing of Ntokozo Khaliphako (48), whose lifeless body was discovered at Buffelspruit near Schoemansdal on 4 June, has led the police to suspect that her male companion, identified as Victor Matsebula(39), might be responsible for her death.
According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the male companion has since disappeared but the police have launched a manhunt.
“ It is reported that the suspect and the victim left Barberton, heading to the suspect’s parental residence in Buffelspruit on Friday 31 May 2024. Few days later, the suspect’s family became worried when they could not see them around. The family decided to check on them, however, nobody was responding and the room they were accommodated(in) was locked,” said Mdhluli.
He said that the Schoemansdal police were called and they gained entry by forcing the door open, which led to the discovery of Khaliphako’s lifeless body with a stab wound to the neck and the suspect was nowhere to be found.
“ Police made some efforts to locate the suspect but without any success. Investigators are convinced that Mr Victor Matsebula can assist them with their investigation,” he said.
