MEC of Health Sasekani Manzini and Minister Joe Phahla

The Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla, alongside Mpumalanga Health MEC, Sasekani Manzini, Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt-General Semakaleng Manamela, Premier of Mpumalanga, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, and other senior government officials, conducted an oversight visit at Themba Regional Hospital at Kabokweni, outside Mbombela, on Wednesday 17 April.
The visit was reportedly aimed at assessing the state of public health service delivery and to receive first-hand information on the alleged criminal activities that took place at the hospital last week, resulting in the disruption of health care services, threats to the safety and security of health workers, patients and the infrastructure.
According to a statement by the Department, the Minister was briefed by Chief Director Hospital Services, Mpho Mohale and the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Themba Regional Hospital, Thembi Matsinhe, about the incident which happened in the hospital which resulted in a go slow within the facility
“ The Minster met with workers of the hospital and expressed gratitude to them for showing resilience during trying times. He moved on to ensure that the people continue to access adequate health care services with dignity,” said the Department in a statement.
