The police in Bethal have arrested a 33 year-old Zimbabwean man, identified as Timothy Rugara, for allegedly dealing in Dagga, on Wednesday 27 May 2024.
Rugara was reportedly spotted by a concerned resident in the area while offloading the said dagga from a cement tanker which was parked next to a tuckshop.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said the police swiftly responded and found the suspect next to the cement tanker.
“ A search was conducted and police discovered compressed dagga with an estimated street value of about R100 000 inside the tanker,” said Mdhluli.
According to Mdhluli, Rugara appeared at the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 28 March where he was granted R5000 bail and his case was postponed to 17 May 2024.
