State-of-the-art workshop equipment was presented to the Kanyamazane Campus by the Industrial Development Corporation(IDC), in a special ceremony attended by various dignitaries, held at Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust(MRTT)-Kanyamazane Campus on 24 February.

The Kanyamazane Campus, which is one of the campuses that fall under Ehlanzeni TVET College, was reportedly identified as a deserving recipient of funds amounting to R1.9 million by the IDC, aimed at enhancing the institution’s facilities.

The donation, which is said to be part of a Public-Private Partnership, reportedly came with the condition that it be invested in workshop equipment, rather than monetary assistance.

According to the Corporate Communications Manager at Ehlanzeni TVET College, Mxolisi Nzimande, the initiative was spearheaded by the College Principal, Mr EM Mbuyane, who convened a meeting with Campus Managers to deliberate on the allocation of the said funds(from IDC) across campuses.
“ It was unanimously agreed that Kanyamazane Campus would benefit exclusively from the IDC’ generous donation. Following meticulous consultation with specialists and engineering fabrication experts, a suitable service provider was identified to equip the Kanyamazane Campus’ workshop with cutting-edge machinery,” said Nzimande.

He added that students had the opportunity to witness the event and demonstrated the operation of the new equipment to the delegation present at the ceremony.
“ The provision of modern workshop equipment marks a significant advancement for Engineering Fabrication at the Kanyamazane Campus. Students will now engage in practical sessions with enhanced safety and efficiency, courtesy of the IDC’s generous contribution.
“ The college community extends its heartfelt appreciation to the IDC for this valuable gift, which will positively impact the educational journey of Kanyamazane Campus students for years to come,” he said.
Nzimande mentioned that IDC officials Mr S Kgonyane and Mr I Mathebula, in a symbolic gesture, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Engineering Fabrication workshop of the campus. He also said that words of gratitude were conveyed by Ms K Mthethwa(representing the Student Representative Council-SRC), the College Principal- Mr EM Mbuyane and Dr S Mlangeni from the Regional Office of the Department of Higher Education and Training.
