The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Unit, based in Nelspruit, pounced on Zola Martin Mnisi(29) who was out on bail of R8000 granted by the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court for a murder and robbery case that took place in July 2023 at White River.

Mnisi was reportedly re-arrested on Tuesday 19 December after the Hawks linked him, through finger prints analysis, to a hijacking incident that unfolded at iLanga Mall(in Nelspruit) on 5 May 2017.

According to Mpumalanga Hawks spokesperson, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, Mnisi was allegedly amongst armed suspects who hijacked a Ram Courier company vehicle that was delivering cellphones to a Vodacom outlet at the said Mall.

The suspects reportedly took the driver and crew to the Mathafeni area. The goods were allegedly removed from the courier vehicle and loaded into a Toyota Quantum minibus and suspects fled the scene.

” A warrant of arrest was authorised and executed during his court appearance on Tuesday at Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court. The accused was detained and appeared before the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 20 December. Mnisi was granted a R2000 bail. The case was postponed to 29 March 2024 for further investigation,” said Sekgotodi.

Mnisi is said to be facing other charges which include a cash-in-transit robbery that occured in August this year, whereby he was released on R5000 bail by the Malelane Magistrate’s Court.

The Acting Provincial Head of the Hawks, Brigadier William Mokonyama, applauded the Multidisciplinary team for ensuring that the accused faces the consequences of his allegations.

” We shall leave no stone unturned and bring perpetrators of crime to book,” said Mokonyama.

The Brigadier also said that all information received from the community assists the Hawks in solving cases and it is treated with confidentiality.
