Nelspruit -Traffic had to be at a standstill and a number of commuters were left without transport to work in Kanyamazane as members of the local Taxi association embarked on a shutdown.

Protesters closed local roads using buses and heavily loaded trucks which made it heavy for other motorists to operate, in and out of the place. The protest result from an incident that occurred on the evening of Friday, 24 September 2021 whereby a 58-year-old taxi driver was fatally shot meanwhile his crew sustained some injuries after being shot as well.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has pleaded with community members  to work  with police in ensuring that the suspects are brought to book in providing information that will lead to their arrest.
