The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) has welcomed the six police bakkies donated, reportedly worth over R3.5 million, to provincial South African Police Service(SAPS) by Seriti Community Trust Mining, as part of contributing towards crime prevention in the province.

The vehicles were received by DCSSL MEC, Jackie Macie, alongside the Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major-General(Dr)Zeph Mkhwanazi, and other stakeholders at a function held in Emalahleni on Friday 13 September.

DCSSL said, in a statement, that the bakkies will improve the fight against Gender Based Violence and Femicide(GBVF), as well as improving police visibility.

“ The MEC(Macie) said the assistance of the company could not have come at a better time as the province has just released the Quarterly Crime Statistics. He emphasised that the time was good as the war against crime is now intensifying. He urged other company to follow suit and emulate Seriti Group of Companies,” said DCSSL.
