The Ndebele Nation said they can not blink an eye, stay home and not welcome one of their own. The members came in numbers at OR Tambo International Airport to welcome Ntando Mahlangu.
Ntando Mahlangu who claimed his second gold medal of the Tokyo Paralympics on Friday, winning the 200m in the T61 category.
Mahlangu, the world record holder in the event, cruised home in a time of 23.59 ahead of Great Britain’s Richard Whitehead in second and Ali Lacin of Germany in third.
The members were accompanied by Thembisile Hani Local Municipality’s executive mayor Nomsa Mtsweni.
Mtsweni said they can not make a mistake and not welcome the son of the soil who has made a name not only the county but also for her municipality.
“As a municipality we are happy and pride ourselves of this achievement. We have had a number of heroes in our Municipality but this one was an outstanding one”, she said.
