Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe will on Thursday 09 November 2021 lead the launch of the Festive Season Road Safety Campaign on the R23 Road between Standerton and Balfour this week.
The annual Road Safety Campaign is aimed at encouraging motorists and road users in general to play their part in road safety by obeying the traffic rules and to also use the road with greater caution to minimise loss of lives as a result of crashes.
The R23 Road is one of the routes that has had many fatal crashes in the previous holiday seasons.
This road is also the route that links Mpumalanga, Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal provinces through the N2 and N3 national roads respectively.
This year’s campaign is aimed to focus mainly on excessive speeding, drunken driving, wearing of seat belts and pedestrian safety.
Developing story.
