Lingitjhudu primary school, in Doornkop (under the Steve Tshwete local municipality), was launched as a health-promiting school by the department of health in Nkangala district.
According to the department, a health-promoting school promotes the general health and wellbeing of the school community, to address key health and social barriers in learning, to promote effective learning in a conducive learning environment.
” Learners from various grades demonstrated their knowledge in healthy lifestyle education and through songs and role play. The circuit manager for the department of education in Steve Tshwete, Mr Mabusela, appreciated the department of health for choosing and prioritising the school,” said the department of health in a statement.
Other departments and government entities such as SASSA(South African Social Security Agency), department of social development and traffic management, shared information about their respective services that they offer to learners, as part of showing support to the programme.
