The fatal shooting of two Eskom contract workers in Ermelo on Thursday 30 October, came under heavy criticism from Mpumalanga Acting Provincial Commisioner, Major-General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said the two victims aged between 37 and 40, reportedly met their death after dropping off a vehicle at Thusiville in Ermelo, which was due for a service. He said the attack on the two victims reportedly occurred while they were returning in another vehicle.
“ Details and circumstances surrounding this incidents are still being investigated. A lifeless body of one of the victims was found inside the car meanwhile the second victim was found outside the vehicle. The SAPS members also found some memory cartridges at the scene. Th motive for the killing is unknown at this moment,” said Mdhluli.
Major-General Mkhwanazi has reassured the public that a team of investigators has been assigned to probe the incident and bring the culprits to book.
