Learners at Driekoppies happy to receive their tablets

As part of the Ubuhlebuzile e-learning full scale project, MEC for Education in Mpumalanga, Bonakele Majuba, distributed tablets to all Grade 8-12 learners, as well as laptops to teachers at Driekoppies Secondary School on 16 January.

According to the Department, the programme was launched by Mpumalanga Premier, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, in Piet Retief on 5 April 2022, and it provides valuable information with regards to the modalities and intricacies of e-learning, also the future of schooling.

Speaking to the learners at Driekoppies, Majuba said the gadgets come resourced with the required learning material such as e-books, study guides and previous question papers.

“ Ubuhlebuzile learning offers opportunities to adapt learning styles or strategies as well as the needs of learners for each level or grade. Eight secondary schools have been selected to pilot the concept, two in each district.

“ This will allow teachers to begin to transit from pen and paper to technology centres learning. This allows learning to happen not only within the four walls of a classroom but anywhere and anytime,” he said.

The MEC has urged learners to take good care of the gadgets because they remain the property of the Mpumalanga Department of Education.
