The head of DARDLEA (department of agriculture, rural development, land and environmental affairs) in Mpumalanga, Cain Chunda, led a three-day TETA (transport education training authority) event in Mkhuhlu near Hazyview.

The event was reportedly aimed at presenting an informative session to empower the youth on opportunities available in the sectors of agriculture and transport. It is also stated that some of the DARDLEA- supported agricultural projects were highlighted as a means to lure young minds to consider starting agriculture-related businesses.

” The TETA empowerment youth weekend is also intended to enable young people to network on sustainable opportunities fostering economic transformation, job creation and high employment absorption capacity within township and rural economies,” said DARDLEA in a statement.

It is also reported that key topics highlighted in the event included; how to identify a small business, building partnerships and collaborations, access to funding, company registration, managing a business, getting into contracts, pitching for a business, accessing learnerships and bursaries.
