The community of Chochocho, in Masoyi, is reeling in shock following the murder of a couple in the early hours of Sunday 15 March 2026.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Mavela Madondo, said the couple was reportedly shot inside their house.
“ It is reported that male aged 45 and a female aged 35, were asleep in their house when the suspect/s forced entry and shot at them. Both victims were certified dead on the scene. The motive for the killing cannot be confirmed at this stage,” said Colonel Masondo.
According to Colonel Masondo, a manhunt has been launched and a case of murder was opened against the culprits who are reportedly still at large.
“ Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspect/s to please call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111. Information can also be provided anonymously via MySAPS App that can be downloaded from any smartphone,” said Colonel Masondo.
