Mpumalanga Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major-General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has strongly condemned the gruesome discovery of an unidentified body of a woman, presumably in her twenties, near the R573 Road in Kwaggafontein on Tuesday 27 August. Mkhwanazi believes that the incident highlights the prevalence of violence against women in society.
According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, investigations conducted thus far suggest that some parts of the victim’s body could have been removed, but a postmortem will provide more clarity.
“ The circumstances surrounding this tragic murder case are still under police investigation and no one has been arrested yet. Investigators are urging families who have lost a female person in her twenties to immediately contact the police,” said Mdhluli.
Major-General Mkhwanazi said police will work hard and apprehend those who are responsible for the heinous crime.
“ This is a disturbing incident whereby the life of a female has been cut short by heartless individuals. It takes us back from our efforts to fight this scourge that has plagued our society for too long, hence it is imperative that we work together to break the cycle of violence and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice,” said Mkhwanazi.
