The Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs(DARDLEA), alongside the City of Mbombela Municipality, recently joined the residents of Matsulu-A during a clean-up campaign held at the local Mandela Park, in celebration of World Environmental Day.
According to a statement by DARDLEA, the residents were urged to refrain from illegal dumping as it leads to the pollution of the nearby Mgwenya river.

“ Community members cleared an illegal dumping spot in the vicinity of the park, while our Environmental Empowerment Unit also conducted an environmental education and awareness session during a gathering at Matsulu Primary School, where locals were encouraged to fight illegal dumping, and protect the environment,” said DARDLEA.
