Banyana Banyana goalkeeper, Andile Dlamini, received a hero’s welcome during a Sports Against Crime friendly soccer tournament organised by SAPS(South African Police Service) in conjunction with the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality and other stakeholders at Mkhuhlu Stadium , near Hazyview, on Thursday 21 December.

Elderly women from areas such as Madras, Calcutta and Dumphries entertained the crowd with their soccer skills. The first game between Dumphries and Madras was settled by a penalty shootout which ended with a 3-1 score in favour of Dumphries, while the second match between the Madras and Calcutta Gogos ended in a 3-1 victory in favour of Calcutta.
Dlamini, who originally hails from Dumphries in Bushbuckridge, thanked the community members for their undying support and urged the youth to focus on their studies instead of losing themselves to a destructive lifestyle of alcohol abuse and sexual activities which lead to teenage pregnancy and diseases.
Dlamini gifted an exclusive soccer jersey to the Executive Mayor of Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, Silvia Nxumalo, as a token of appreciation.
