Local small business owners met with Mpumalanga MEC for DEDT(Department of Economic Development and Tourism), Jesta Sidell. The meetings main objective was to discuss challenges and solutions during a Business Stakeholder Engagement Session held at Amersfoort, in the Dr Pixely La Isaka Seme Local Municipality.
The engagement was reportedly focused on creating a platform for local business people and small enterprises to engage directly with the Department and Development Financial Institutions, to identify opportunities that are available for small businesses.

Furthermore, DEDT revealed that the Business Stakeholder Engagement Session is part of an ongoing mission to ensure that the support for MSMEs and Cooperatives is strengthened, and they ultimately become key players in the economy.
Speaking at the event, MEC Sidell said there is a concerted effort to transform the economy of the province by creating various platforms for MSMEs to thrive.
“ The Department has a mandate to develop and support small businesses and Cooperatives by empowering and nurturing them. We hold a firm view that MSME development remain the appropriate vehicle to drive the economic transformation agenda in our province,” said Sidell.
