Mpumalanga SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has ordered the swift arrest of Two suspects who were involved in the kidnapping of a 21-year-old woman from Nkomazi who was kidnapped while waiting for a taxi back home.
According to information at police disposal the 21 year old lady was reportedly kidnapped by Two males next to a Gym at Schoemansdal plaza, in Nkomazi.
However, her assailants left her at Tonga before they fled with her cell phone.
“I was waiting for a taxi back home (in Driekoppies) at around 18h15 when a green Toyota Corolla emerged and two males pointed guns at me and ordered me to get inside the car. I operated and did exactly as they said. I was shocked while on the road when they said I should contact my family and they stated demanding R10 000 which we don’t even have,” she said.
According to the victim, the suspects forced her to open her banking app to check how much money she had. Unfortunately, they found nothing and they let her go.
“After some time of arguments between the two, they said I should call home and tell them where they were going to find me. I said a little prayer that they should not change their statement and my prayer was answered “, the victim concluded.
The suspects removed a simcard from the victim’s phone and also took the phone with them.
Her family found her alive but with slight bruises as she was reportedly assaulted as well as her hands tied (with cable ties) by the suspects during the ordeal.
The matter was eventually reported to the police at Schoemansdal and a kidnapping case was opened with the immediate launch of a manhunt for the suspects.
Mpumalanga police have urged members of the public who know a suspicious old green Toyota Corolla with some of the said letters (KC) in the number plates to quickly alert police by calling the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information (even pictures) via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
