The appointment of the Boards of the MTPA(Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) and MEGA(Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency) serves as a catalyst in the implementation of strategic measures to strengthen governance and foster stability in the Entities.
This is according to Mpumalanga MEC for DEDT(Department of Economic Development and Tourism), Jesta Sidell, upon the appointment of the new Board members.
MEC Sidell said MTPA and MEGA serve as strategic frontline engines established to drive the implementation of the mandate of the Department and the priorities of the 7th Administration, especially Priority 1, of driving inclusive growth and job creation.
“ The appointment of Mr. Fish Mahlalela as Chairperson of the board of the MTPA gives me renewed hope that we are on the right path towards repositioning the entity as a driver of tourism development in the province. Mr. Mahlalela has experience in government, and has once served as Deputy Minister of Tourism, among the many leadership roles in government.
“Likewise, I am equally pleased by the appointment of Mr. Jabulani Mahlangu, who is also not new to our department, having previously served as an MEC, also took over the ropes as the Interim Chairperson of MEGA, following the resignation of the then Chairperson,” said MEC Sidell.
The MEC added that the The Boards play a crucial oversight role to these Entities, in ensuring that DEDT fulfils its mandate to stimulate economic growth and development for the province, in the quest to create sustainable and decent employment, economic transformation and to alleviate poverty.

She furthermore stated that the outgoing MTPA Interim Board, under the leadership of Mahlalela, has done an outstanding job in turning the MTPA around.
The newly appointed Board members for MTPA include;
Mr. Fish Mahlalela (Chairperson), Ms. Mohita Latchminarain, Mr. Raymond Sizile Ndlovu, Ms. Qondile Gloria Thabethe, Mr. Walter Makgai, Ms. Gladys Monama, prof. David Mabunda, Ms. Norah Mahlangu, Mr. Emmanuel Mtshali, Ms. Nomndeni Motha, and Mr. Andy Le Monnier
The newly appointed MEGA Board members included;
Mr. Jabulani Mahlangu (Chairperson), Ms. Nkateko Khoza, Advocate Mthokozisi Xulu, Ms. Busisiwe Paulina Shiba, Mr. Sipho William Lubisi, Ms. Zakithi Makhubu, Mr. December Mavuso, Ms. Noxolo Zephania Oyiya, Mr. Jacques Modipane, Rev. Mhlupheki Micah Nthali, and Ms. Elizabeth Mokoena
