A desperate search is underway for 6-year-old Rethabile Okuhle Vilakazi, who went missing on 28 January 2025, in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga.
According to police reports, Rethabile was last seen getting off a scholar transport bus at around 14:00, but she never made it home. The police are urging anyone with information about Rethabile’s disappearance to come forward.
Rethabile’s family is said to have reported her missing on 30 January 2025, and a search operation is still ongoing in the area. The police said they are working tirelessly to reunite Rethabile with her family, but they need the public’s help.
“ If you have any information about Rethabile’s disappearance, please contact the authorities immediately. Let’s work together to bring this young girl home safely,” said Mpumalanga SAPS.
Members of the public who might have information about little Rethabile’s whereabouts are urged to contact Warrant Officer Martin Ntshangase, who is leading the investigation, on 072 638 1858 or 082 922 9748, alternatively the public can contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or submit information via the MYSAPSAPP. The SAPS said all information received will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
