The Provincial Treasury Head Official, Gugu Mashiteng met with Municipal Manager and other senior figures at Bushbuckridge Local Municipality to evaluate and discuss the financial state of the municipality on Monday 9 September.
According to the Department, the municipality presented reports on the state of local government finances, progression on the implementation of audit action plan and status quo for 2023/24 Annual Financial Statements.
The Department said that similar meetings also took place in the Steve Tshwete and Emalahleni Local Municipalities last month.
“ The meeting is part of Provincial Treasury plan under Municipal Finance Support Service, which is intended to support municipalities with improving state of their financial viability,” said the Department.
In addition, the Provincial Treasury said the meeting was focused on exploring innovative solutions and identifying opportunities for sustainable revenue generation.
