A public hearing was recently held at the Civic Centre in Lydenburg, under the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality(TCLM), by the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA), to reportedly source comments and inputs from stakeholders in relation to the Upstream Petroleum Resources Development Bill.

“ The Bill, amongst other objectives, seeks to provide for orderly development of petroleum resources, provide for equitable access to the country’s petroleum resources and to ensure active participation by the previously disadvantaged in the nation’s petroleum resources,” said TCLM in a statement.
The hearing was attended by, amongst others, the Executive Mayor of TCLM-Friddah Nkadimeng, alongside senior officials at the municipality.
