Police under the Middleburg Flying Squad apprehended a 38 year-old male suspect after he was allegedly found in possession of chrome worth more than R200 000 on Thursday 30 November.
The suspect was reportedly nabbed following information about a suspicious truck carrying some dodgy consignment.
” The information was then followed by SAPS(South African Police Service) members and whilst on the lookout, they spotted the said truck which matched the description as the information given. Members discovered a bag full of chrome weighing at around 12,700 kilograms.

” The truck driver attempted to evade arrest but his efforts were futile. He was then charged accordingly and he is expected to appear at the Middleburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday 4 December, facing the said charges,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.
He furthermore said that the possibility of adding more charges against the suspect cannot be ruled out, as investigation continues.
