Mahlathi primary school, in Bohlabela district, won first prize for the 2023 cleanest school awards.
The department of education in Mpumalanga said that the awards focus beyond cleanliness, as they also promote a culture of responsibility and pride among learners and staff.
” Well done Mahlathi, you are the best of the best. A clean learning environment promotes positive learning experiences and contributes to a healthy and safe atmospheres for students and staff alike.
” Cleanliness not only prevents the spreading of germs and diseases, but it also improves air quality, reduces allergens, and enhances overall well-being. Schools that priorities cleanliness understand that it is linked to learner attendance, focus and performance. We’ll done Mahlathi, you are the best of the best,” said the department in a statement.
The department added that the awards serve as a motivation for schools to continually prioritise cleanliness.
