A Veld Management Farmers Information Day was held at the Barberton environmental centre, in which a group of Fortune 40 beneficiaries from Ehlanzeni district received certificates after completing a 3-year training course.
The event was reportedly a collaboration between the Fortune 40 programme and the Land Care Unit(from the department of agriculture, rural development, land and environmental affairs), alongside the Agricultural Research Council.
” After a 3-year training at Boschrand, Magogeni, Plaston and Barberton Fortune 40 projects, they received SETA-accredited NQF Level 3 certificates, and were encouraged to form cooperatives and continue with agriculture, food security and create opportunities for other young people,” said DARDLEA in a statement.
DARDLEA added that the Land Care Unit focused on creating awareness on sustainable grazing management practices, during which, veld and pasture management was discussed in detail to encourage farmers to feed their livestock accordingly.
