An intelligence-driven operation by the Hawks, reportedly led to the arrest of two foreign nationals in Secunda today.
According to a statement by spokesperson for the Hawks in Mpumalanga, captain Dineo Sekgotodi, cooperation between Secunda k9 and local security companies ( Stratcoin, LCRC and HSC) assisted in nabbing the two suspects, who were allegedly cornered at Evander taxi rank.
” It is alleged that the foreign nationals approached Spar security guard to organise stolen goods from Spar storeroom, to deliver in their shops at the value of R250 000 for (a) payment of R100 000. The security guard reported the matter to his boss who reported the matter to the Hawks for further investigation. Entrapment was set whereby the suspects were arrested during the delivery of the items required,” said Sekgotodi.
She said that the groceries, cash money and vehicle used during the commission of the crime were seized for further investigation.
” The suspects will appear before the Evander magistrate’s court of Friday, 21 April. Investigation continues,” said Sekgotodi.
