An 11 year-old child sustained injuries after a car was allegedly shot multiple times by members of a well-known security company in White River recently.
MEC for community safety, security and liaison in Mpumalanga – Vusi Shongwe, released a statement condemning the incident and he has demanded a full report surrounding the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Shongwe said that two people from the said company were arrested, but he cautioned security companies not to shoot when there’s no imminent danger.
” Private security companies play an important role in preventing crime. We have seen many cases where their prompt actions have assisted to foil criminal activities and even save lives.
“Therefore, we will await the outcome of this case, but at the same time, we want them to always be vigilant in order to act accordingly and not endanger other people’s lives,” said shongwe.
