No position has ever been an easy one, as they say “All the wanted seats are always hot”. She has only been on her position for only Five Months but in this month it has nothing but fire in her position as the speaker of the Legislature.
Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature Speaker, Makhosazane Masilela is appealing to residents in Mpumalanga to remain calm on the unrest situations going on.
“The Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature have noted the increasing incidence of the violent destruction of property and looting in Mpumalanga and around the province. We further note that these incidence are informed by the ongoing spate of violence and looting taking place in some parts of our country. We therefore make this humble plea for level headedness during this difficult moment in our nation”, she said.
The speaker has further asked community members to safeguard the dignity of the nation and not destroying it.
“We therefore call on our communities to act responsibly and with caution to ensure that we safeguard our dignity as a nation. The response to increasing levels of poverty, unemployment and inequality that bedevil our society, especially the youth, remains our apex priority, through government’s economic reconstruction and recovery plan. We are all cognisant that the inexcusably high level of inequality across race and gender in not sustainable, if we are to guarantee a just future for our children.
We therefore call on all social partners including community leaders, traditional leaders, religious leaders, sports associations and political parties, to join government’s efforts in the call of calm and peace in our nation.”
